56.110L is an installation work born from an investigation into presence, ownership, and the physical space occupied by the body. During the making of this piece, the volume of my own body was calculated to be 56.110 litres, the exact volume of space I physically displaced in the world. This measurement was then translated materially through the use of precisely 56.110 litres of pig’s blood, occupying that same volume within the installation. Through this act, the work reflects on the idea that the only space we can ever truly claim as our own is the space our bodies inhabit, temporary, fragile, delicate and beautiful until inevitably surrendered through death and complete decomposition. 56.110L exists as both a physical measurement and a meditation on mortality, bodily presence, and the impermanence of ownership.
